Drawing on research and fieldwork, the collections displayed at Tokyo Craft Room are mainly collaborations between designers and local craftspeople facilitated by Creative Director Teruhiro Yanagihara, a designer we admire. By bringing together both ends of modernity and knowledge of local resources/ generations of technique, this hybrid approach cultivates a new era for craftsmanship in Japan. Among the pieces are wooden cabinets, tables, benches and porcelain cups for everyday use.

The ability to develop products that are classic, yet fit modern life and the needs that accompany it are one of the aspects that make collaboration projects like the ones here so noteworthy.
