Born in Switzerland to a family of architects, I grew up surrounded by my mothers cooking and her always growing collection of traditional Japanese arts and crafts. When in Japan we would visit craftsmen, see how they worked and hear their stories. I was always mesmerized by them but also shocked by the hard reality they live in. Most of them struggle to find successors and the thought of the crafts not existing for much longer pained me so much that I wanted to do something about it.
Pieces Of Japan is my way of helping them to raise awareness for their craft and to tell their stories with the ultimate goal of supporting them so their craft can continue to live on to the next generation.
Thank you for being here.
